An action packed sequence “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials”



Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (also known simply as The Scorch Trials) is a Hollywood dystopian science-fiction film. The film is based on James Dashner’s novel “The Scorch Trials”. It is the second novel in The Maze Runner book saga. The Scorch Trails is the sequel to the 2014 film “The Maze Runner” and the second episode of The Maze Runner film series. The movie was directed by Wes Ball, while the screenplay was given by T.S. Nowlin.

Filming and Release

 Filming commenced in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 27, 2014 and officially completed on January 27, 2015. Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials had its release in select international territories starting September 9, 2015 in 2D, 3D, 4DX and Barco Escape, and was made its release on September 18, 2015 in the United States in 2D and Premium Large Format theaters, under 20th Century Fox. It was initially set to be released in IMAX, but was cancelled as the movie “Everest” had all worldwide IMAX screens reserved until the release of the film The Walk.


The movie featured an ensemble cast which included Dylan O’Brien as Thomas, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt, Ki Hong Lee as Minho, Kaya Scodelario as Teresa Agnes, Rosa Salazar as Brenda, Jacob Lofland as Aris Jones, Giancarlo Esposito as Jorge, Aidan Gillen as Janson, Dexter Darden as Frypan, Alexander Flores as Winston, Patricia Clarkson as Ava Paige, Lili Taylor as Mary Cooper, Barry Pepper as Vince, Alan Tudyk as Marcus, Nathalie Emmanuel as Harriet, Katherine McNamara as Sonya, Kathryn Smith-McGlynn as Dr. Crawford, Luke Gallegos as Young Thomas and Lora Cunningham as Thomas’ Mother.


The story of the movie shows Thomas and his fellow young Gladers as they find themselves in a mess after being transported to a remote fortified outpost. Things get worse for them as they uncover a diabolical plan from the enigmatic and powerful organization WCKD. The Gladers receive assistance from a new ally and attempt a daring escape into the Scorch, a deserted terrain filled with dangerous barriers and crawling with the virus-infected Cranks. The group’s only hope is to find the Right Hand, a rebellious group of resistance fighters who can help them battle WCKD.


Critical Reception

The Scorch Trials was met with mixed reviews, with some critics citing the movie as an improving upgrade as compared to its predecessor. The critics praised the movie for its enthralling action sequences and beautiful performances, while some criticized the film for its dull plot no character advancement.

On the Box Office

Just like its predecessor, the movie was a big commercial success and earned $30.3 million during its opening weekend and made its way to spot of the ninth-highest grossing debut in September. The film reached the number one spot at the box office in its opening weekend, and has earned $310 million worldwide.
